Birmingham's best breakfasts
There are days when finding a decent place to get some breakfast is a matter of life and death. Well, fundamental to recovering from a night on the town at least. If you’re anywhere near Selly Oak, haul yourself over to the Selly Sausage (539-541 Bristol Road, (0121) 471 4464). Sultans of the fried breakfast, a meal here will soon have your stomach back on track. Find yourself closer to town the morning after the big night before? Then Mr Egg (22 Hurst Street, (0121) 622 4344) is for you. It’s a Birmingham institution when it comes to the full English (or any meal that incorporates a fried egg come to that). The Floating Coffee Company (Brindley Place, (0121) 633 0050) also opens for breakfast, but is probably best avoided if you’re nursing a hangover or get seasick easily – projectile vomiting may ensue. But as they say – better out than in.
