The local scene, man….Shady Bard, Old School Tie, Oneyesblue, Sunset Cinema Club and Computer Club are just a few of the quality Brum bands knocking around at the moment. Head for the Catapult Club night at Bar Academy every Thursday for the best line-ups. Just don’t mention The Twang.
The Jewellery Quarter…whilst rain and wailing winds aren’t dead certs every day of the week, walk up from town and explore. Wherever you’re headed, our bet’s on you getting sidetracked by one of the little bars in the side streets. You discover somewhere new every time and it’s not full of chavs. Good enough for us.
Hates
Neon…who ever thought to make New Street look like Blackpool illuminations deserves a right good kicking. At least blinding yellow, pink and green were confined to 14-year-old punk fans for a while. Since when did chavs and wannabe rappers jump on the slogan-covered bandwagon? Bring on closing time at the nu-rave disco.
Sold out gigs…who actually buys all 3000 tickets between 9am and 9.03am on a Monday morning? Cos it’s certainly never been us. Or anyone we know for that matter. Any concerts we ever want to go to these days are sold out before we even knew they were happening. Tantrrruuum.
