If you're looking for a place that offers cheap drinks all the time then head to Gassy Jack's (39–41, Salisbury Road, 029 2023 2608). No, not a treatment centre for those with excess wind, Gassy's is a pub of the conventional kind, with some rather nice décor too. For a top all-round classy bar with great food, check out Shore Pebbles (Womanby Street, 029 2039 9274)

Margarita at Daiquiris – Bitter-sweet, with a razor sharp edge.

Purple Rain at Old Orleans – As fruity as Prince himself.
