Other bargains live along the High Street in Beeston that boasts over eight charity shops in one stretch. However, if your budget's more velvet rope than shoestring and you don't fancy wearing granny's sloppy seconds, check out Wild Clothing (4–6 Broad Street, 0115 941 8282) for the latest in retro trends. If you want touristy tat, get down to The Tales of Robin Hood (38 Maid Marian Way, 0115 948 3284). Why not buy a crusader chain mail vest, or how about a King John teddy bear? If you fancy a souvenir you can enjoy with a mate, may we suggest the 'Magna Tak magnetic board'? Think of the hours of fun you can have, moving your 2D cardboard knights backwards and forwards. Best of all though, we love the Three Shot Siege Tower with battle shield, demolition cannon and – wait for it – elastic propeller. Kevin Costner could have used some of this. Finally, The Tokenhouse (39–41 Bridlesmith Gate, 0115 950 2121) is the place to head to secure some truly unique wrapping paper and cards with which to adorn your new purchases for your loved ones.
