Wenlock Arms
This proper Laandan boozer serves an impressive, ever-changing selection of real ales that satisfies the local clientele. No gastro-niceties here – instead expect tasty doorstop sandwiches and, if you're lucky, a couple of pasties. By day, you'll find stalwart regulars tuned into horse racing (we initially thought we'd caught up with a coachload of Queen Vic extras being bussed home from Elstree) and by night, a mix of locals, Hoxton trendies and real ale-lovers fill the tables in this modest, old-school pub. Thursday's quiz night and if you're after an aufentik London singalong on the old joanna, grab a seat on a Sunday.
