Museum of the Jewellery Quarter
Although Birmingham is perhaps no longer the 'Workshop of the World', there's still the odd reminder of the city's industrial past. As well as the labyrinth of canals, the traditional art of jewellery–making still survives. The site of the jewellery museum was a family run firm that only shut in 1981. You can wander around and see skilled jewellers at work or look enviously at jewellery you can't afford.
