Bucklemaker Wine Bar
In the well–heeled St Paul's area, you expect restaurants to be both expensive and luxurious –this one succeeds at the latter but is reassuringly good value too. Best seat in the house is in the refreshing wine cellar alcove –though you can eat at the bar, and there's a more formal dining area at the rear. Food is healthily portioned – none of your slim slivers of salmon here –. We went for the tapas dishes, providing us with more than enough to shunt around the remains at the end of the meal. Attracts a lot of suits as you might expect, but also romantic couples and families. Obviously the word is out.
