Michelle's La Bastille Restaurant Francais

Both have the same kind of menu but different atmospheres –the one in Harborne is tiny, best suited to quiet and intimate dates, while the Corporation Street branch is more boisterous and lively enough to spill on to the terrace. These are rustic, rickety wooden–floored places with your red checked tablecloths and authentic French cuisine. Food here is smashing, with an excellent á la carte menu, carefully and thoughtfully presented. I was especially impressed by the best moules marini?®re I've had in this country. The wine list is, however, best consulted only after a call to the bank manager, presenting a not wildly interesting array of the usual old favourites at rather steep prices. Overall, nothing too fancy about the atmosphere, but plentiful and tasty food. Recommended.

Had the mussels... best this side of the channel. Looks like it needs some tlc but the food and drink on offer were exeptional, sorry can not agree with other reviewer about the wine prices as they seened reasonable to me with French Merlot at 11.95. The law trade are lucky to have a restaurant with fresh home cooked food on their door step.
