The Royal George
Known as the George for 30 years – though officially renamed Brennan's –, this is the gateway to the Irish quarter. You'll find the place packed with Irish regulars singing Danny Boy and bawling about the Emerald Isle and how much they hate the English. Still, they insist this place "pours the best fuggin' point a Guinness in Brum", and they should know. Certainly not a young crowd, but it's a homely cavern that has a separate bar area for those who are looking to chill out a bit more.
