Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery
Built in 1884 to inspire local artisans, this lovely Victorian building houses permanent collections of fascinating stuff found beneath Brum's streets and the world's largest collection of pre-Raphaelite art, plus some modern work, too. If gazing at paintings stroking your chin leaves you none the wiser, videos with audio commentary can help. The ones on the correct procedure for thoughtful chin stroking are particularly enlightening.
