Beer company sponsorship means the Academy attracts bands of international fame as well as up-and-coming hot stuff. Flip side of the coin, only said beer is on tap, to the tune of extortion, and the ropey teenage club nights amuse Itchy no end. We once wandered past the Saturday night fallout and were asked if we were emo. Was this a reference to our emotional state or music taste? We didn't stop long enough to decide. Aside from awkward social interaction with boys wearing eyeliner, the quality of the acts means the Academy can be a place of happy memories.
