Simla
Boldmere in Sutton Coldfield is fast becoming a Balti belt, with more Indian restaurants on its quarter-mile strip than an equivalent street in Mumbai. Itchy's pick of the bunch is the newly opened Simla. Sadly they've moved away from the traditional flock-wallpaper décor and incongruous pan pipe melodies, and into the 21st century, with minimalist furniture and Bollywood on plasmas. Don't let that fool you, however, as the vast selection of traditional and fusion foods is as good as it is cheap. Also, to the delight of lager swillers, its BYO.
