The Yardbird
With a staple of live jazz and funk bands rocking the joint, The Yardbird ranks as one of the city's premier live music venues. Its intimate setting recreates the mood of a classic black-and-white movie so well you almost expect Humphrey Bogart to stroll in and mutter 'play it again Sam' – in fact the greatest mis-quote of all time. Unlike other uber-cool places, there's no dress code, so hoodies and jeans are welcome, and no gruff-looking bouncers at the door will tell you otherwise. Don't worry, this doesn't mean that ASBO bearing youths are running amok inside.
